My all time favourite day trip from both Thessaloniki and Chalkidiki is Toroneos Cruise. When I started working in tourism, whenever I had the chance, or a day off I hopped in Agios Nikolaos boat and joined the Toroneos Cruise.
Toroneos is the name of the Gulf between the first (Kassandra) and second (Sithonia) of Chalkidiki. Toroneos Cruise starts from Pefkochori Village in Kassandra, and visits the most isolated spots of Sithonia, makes a stop to Marmaras a small city in the center of Sithonia where visitors can have a walk before they return back to Pefkochori.
It's an indeed a lazy cruise, the only you thing you need to do is to wear your sunblock and relax on board, you can also jump of the boat in the assigned location to swim. I always enjoyed my time on board, having fun with people from all over the world and enjoying the blue waters of Chalkidiki.
Now that I am in Thessaloniki I do not often participate on that day trip, but I always recommend it to guests. The Day trip to Toroneos Cruise also known as Lazy Cruise, is every Wednesday from Thessaloniki. The program starts with a transfer by bus from your hotel to Pefkochori in Kassandra, Halkidiki. A leisurely day, cruising the blue waters of Toroneos Gulf and the coastline of the Sithonia and Kassandra peninsulas. The perfect day for sunbath, swimming or enjoying the fabulous view and the marvelous atmosphere. During the cruise, we stop on a beautiful beach to relax and swim. We will continue then with a light lunch (incl.) on the boat.
Our next stop will be in a tourist village of Sithonia Neos Marmaras, where you will have enough time for coffee or shopping. And finally, our last stop will be at Kelifos Island, the perfect place Xfor swimming and snorkeling, where you can jump into the water straight from the boat.
This island is called by the locals “the turtle Island”. The cruise offers you unique
moments and relaxation, often accompanied by seagulls and dolphins and listening
to the charming Greek music.
Did you know that captain is actually from Neos Marmaras? I have known the captain since my early 20's when I was living and working in Marmaras. I am happy to see that after so many years, him and his family continue the tour with the same love as the day that I met them.
